For the last several years I have both edited and reviewed books for various authors. However, I never really did my work professionally. Now, with encouragement from various authors and editors, I am now paying true attention to my reviewing and editing. Please note: I am not currently accepting individual new books for review, I am scheduled out through July 2016. If I catch up before then, I will post to my site.
I post my reviews on Amazon, of course, but also regularly post reviews on the following sites:
- So, I Read This Book Today
- Book Depository
- Amazon US, CA, UK, AU, ES, IT, DE
- Barnes and Noble
- I Dream Books
- Google Books
If you know of other sites I should post to, please let me know.
I also complete reviews for the following services:
- Story Cartel
- Audiobook Magazine
- Book Plug Promotions
- Pump Up Your Book
- Penguin Publishing
- GMTA Publishing
- And others
I read a wide variety of books, and am willing to consider any genre. You can find me on Goodreads by following the link. You may e-mail me at email@example.com. But please please please do NOT just send me your book. If it is not something I like, I will read it anyway and you will have to deal with the fallout of a truthful review.
I will provide an honest review and assessment of your work — I will not flatter you without true merit, nor do I write cruel or mean-spirited reviews just for giggles and grins. I try to be fair and provide constructive critique that will help you to write better in the future. I will also, if I feel it would be useful, send you an e-mail before I post my review, so you might address simple issues that will make your life easier. I do not charge for reviews. I believe that is unethical and demeans both you and me.
Please Note: A situation has come up that requires that I warn those writer of BDSM who try to send books to me for review. This is highly discouraged!!! You might get a review, but I can GUARANTEE you aren’t going to like it. I will do menage‘, I will do gay, but I will not encourage BDSM any more than I do child pornography or snuff.
My review criteria:
5 stars – I really loved the book. It goes directly into my “must purchase the next book” list. The writing, the editing, the story and world building makes it memorable. I will go out of my way to help you market the book in places I think will help.
4 stars – I liked the book. There may have been some editing or plot discrepancies that distracted me, or perhaps I am waiting for the next book to see if the story continues to be as good as the first one, or even better.
3 stars – Either: this book is okay, I enjoyed it well enough, but there were some issues that kept me from really enjoying at as much as I could; Or: I really did not like the book either in premise or storyline, however, it is well-written and others might enjoy it. Details will be in the review.
2 stars – I didn’t like this book, but managed to finish it.
1 star – This book was so horrible that not only did I not finish it, but I flung it across the room – unless I read it on my Kindle and then I just delete it and go read something I know is good to clean out my mind. I am also totally capable of writing scathing reviews as to WHY the book deserved the treatment I am giving it. Fortunately I don’t run across too many of these. I go out of my way not to.
My Age Rating/Reading Level definitions:
I don’t read childrens books. Just isn’t my thing.
Young Adult/YA: This book is written for a target audience equivalent to high school in the US, or for readers age 13 to 19. Some of these can be really good, and it is always fun to find a good one.
College Age: This book is written for a target audience of college-age or recently graduated college students, or for readers 18 to 24
Adult: This book is written for a target audience of those aged 25 and above, or this book has extensive “adult” content (erotica, profanity)
If you want reviews posted at any other specific sites just let me know and I will do my best. I share the reviews from my blog through social media: Facebook, Twitter and Google+. Please let me know your Twitter address and I will mention it for you. Also, if you have Facebook please add that information also so that I may include the information.
